Michael Fred Phelps II (born June 30, 1985) is an American retired competitive swimmer and the most decorated Olympian of all time, with a total of 28 medals.
18 of those medals were gold, 5 silver, and 3 bronze spanning three Olympics (2004, 2008, 2012). Part of the U.S. team’s winning streak in the event at six consecutive Olympic Games.
He has won more Olympic gold medals than any other individual in history. Phelps also holds the all-time records for Olympic golds and Olympic medals leader for a male or female athlete.
